Last year I received a notice in the mail, mind you this was the only notice I got from our HOA, stating that I have over due HOA yearly assessment fees. 3 days later I got another notice but this time it was from a lawyer named Dupont saying that I owe over 1500 dollars in HOA and lawyer fees. I was like what is going on? I called the HOA office right away and they didn’t want to work with me at all. I had to go through the lawyer for everything. Working with this Dupont guy was a nightmare. I felt like he was extorting me for money and threatening to add more fees and a lean on my home if I don’t pay him. I have a family to take care of so with the fear of getting my home taken away from me I just paid the guy. He was a real A-hole to talk to and had no humanity in him. It was like dealing with the devil. The HOA office was zero help at all. They made me feel like they were in some sort of agreement with the dupont law firm to get money out of the resident of sand creek to line their own pockets. There is definitely something shady going on here. This is not right! Something needs to be done…

I just received the same type of letter. When I purchased my house in 2018 I received a copy of the bylaws. I have never been notified of a newer version or any amendments or have been provided with any other copy than this… so please explain why you are forwarding over delinquent accounts to an attorney BEFORE AUGUST 30th? How many other people have you done this to?

They are threatening to put a lien and foreclose on my house unless I pay the lawyer whatever he demands.

This strategy doesn’t make any sense. The last HOA company said they would forward you to a collection agency if you were even behind on your assessment fees, now it goes straight to a lawyer demanding an exorbitant amount of money for sending you a letter, and if you don’t pay it they are foreclosing on your house? You’re not making the HOA rich or further enhancing this neighborhood with these tactics, you’re lining some shady lawyer’s pockets. And why do I have some sort of feeling that money is being shared or mismanaged? What kind of deal does priority property management have with this guy?

I am a hard working citizen, pay my taxes and bills on time and go to work 6 out of 7 days a week to make ends meet while keeping my property in Sand Creek top notch. This added stress is the last thing anyone in this neighborhood needs right now and it needs to end. Petition the board to get a NEW PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY. They aren’t even in this area. The company consists of maybe 2 employees that live upstate. Problems and emails have gone unanswered, they just want your money, and now they are trying to extort you out of it.

I bought a house in sand creek about 4.5 years ago. Our property management company recently switched the website that was used for the autopay for our HOA fees, without my knowledge. I then get a letter in the mail from a lawyer saying i owe 500 and something dollars. I called him to ask what was going on and why i was never contacted before the matter was turned over to attorney and if there was a way i could just pay what i owed with late fees, and get enrolled in the new autopay that i was informed of during that call. Nothing, said i had to pay the 5 almost 600 dollar bill. Keep in mind the total for the entire year of fees is under 250… 2 Weeks later i got another letter saying i was going to get a lien put on my home, and that i now owed over 1000 dollars to this law firm. This is a complete scam, a calculated one it seems. There was no significant effort made to contact me before turning the matter over to an attorney, over 113 dollar matter. Weather this is legal, illegal, whatever…its morally wrong and completely disrespectful to pull on the residents of this HOA that hired you, and pay you.
